Yoga Therapy Group for Mood Management: Anxiety, Depression, Eating Disorder and/or Addiction Recovery
This is an ongoing yoga therapy group open to women ages 16 and over. The group includes a discussion and yoga practice in a non-intimidating atmosphere. Learn about the eight limbed path of yoga and how to practice acceptance, self-compassion, gratitude, contentment and willfulness on and off the yoga mat. The yoga practice portion includes techniques that research has shown helpful in managing symptoms of anxiety and depression as well as practicing mindful movement and mindful meditation. Groups are limited to five members. No experience is necessary and the postures practiced can be modified as needed. Props are provided to help with modifications.

If you are interested in joining but the group is full, I will contact you as soon as a space becomes available. Each group is $65/session. This is an ongoing group with an initial three-month commitment required.
What is Yoga Therapy?
Yoga Therapy is a relatively new field using ancient yoga practices to help treat physical and mental health issues. In my practice, I use yoga therapy in small groups to assist in the treatment of mental health disorders such as anxiety and depression and to aid the recovery process from substance abuse and/or eating disorders. I require that group members are also working with an individual therapist or treatment team. Yoga therapy can be a helpful part of a comprehensive treatment plan and I am happy to communicate with other members of your treatment team (psychotherapist, psychiatrist, physician, nutritionist, etc.).
What is the difference between a Yoga Therapy Group and a Yoga Class?
My group yoga therapy sessions differ from a yoga class because they are psycho-educational in nature and also provide time for the members to share about their experiences and practice. We have time in the group to discuss yoga topics, share experiences and also practice yoga. The yoga techniques practiced in the groups are designed to help in management of symptoms of anxiety and depression by improving self-regulation. Group members are provided with education in yoga philosophy and will learn which yoga techniques that are supported by research in neuroscience and stress management. I make effort to ensure my groups are body positive and accepting. My yoga groups are always trauma sensitive.
